Foam Extinguishing Systems
Foam extinguishing systems, which are widely preferred in industrial areas, use a number of chemical components as extinguishing agents. Foam extinguishing systems, which are kept for fire intervention with a standard pressure system, can be located in familiar classical fire extinguishers or in more advanced automatic systems. Foam extinguishing systems have a top function in industrial facilities or fuel tanks where various chemicals are used.
In laboratories and workshops where chemicals are used for production, which type of foam to choose is determined entirely by the content of the chemicals found and used in that place. The type of foam to be used in production or studies using alcohol derivatives must be the type that does not dissolve in alcohol and does not lose its extinguishing effect. Protein-based, synthetic-based or film-forming foam extinguishing systems are also used in other areas.
Foam sprayed on the fire extinguishes the fire by covering the flames, and acts as a cover to prevent the substances below from re-igniting, thus cutting off contact with air. It intervenes in fire with types such as foam sprinklers, foam fire cabinets, tank extinguishing system, foam monitor system and foam generator. It is better to use automatic foam extinguishing systems in busy and large work areas where manual intervention is difficult.
